A Little Piece of H.A.V.E.N

Did you think this was our only Father's Day gift?

S.U.R.P.R.I.S.E!!!!

This is where we celebrated Father's Day on the weekend, although a week late!

For you, daddy!

One of the main attractions to Bali is the wide range of accommodations on offer. There's just so many to choose from, be it villas, hotels or even guesthouses, depending on where you want to be and how much you want to pay. You'll surely find something of value for money as they are all normally pretty amazing and the hospitality and service quality are often quite excellent.

So because we want to take advantage of this and since we're already in one of the most touristy tourist place on earth (read: cheapskate), we just drove about 20 minutes to Seminyak to stay in an elegant little place called THE HAVEN, where we stayed over the weekend and pretended like we're on holidays. It's just walking distance to what's dubbed as the trendiest beach in Bali - the Double Six Beach and surrounded by rows & rows of little shops & restaurants. It's a perfect spot for us as we really did feel like we're away from home.

As we didn't have to deal with airports and getting tired from long journeys and all, we got to soak up all that The Haven has to offer for the full weekend. It was just lovely!

The morning starts with buffet breakfast included in the package:

This is how you do it: lick jam, put some on bread, lick jam on bread

They have fresh raspberry & strawberry sauce for the fruits

..and for the waffles & pancakes too! LOVE EM!

that's my happy + hungry face

After breakfast, we do a lot of chilling by the pool - about 4 steps from our room!

Our room - just behind the sun beds
Lots of pool time
like father, like daughter
Ice cream stop after walking through the shops

There's a lot of beach time too. This beach is one of the nicest in Bali, definitely. The sand is not white but it's one of the softest & powder-like sand ever. It's surrounded by lots of trendy cafes with such relaxing atmosphere and it offers one of the best sunsets I've ever seen.

The Haven has a beach club that offers shuttle to the beach and complimentary sun beds & towels. We went to the beach club once and another time tried one of the cafes nearby.

one of the cafes with the very cool bean bag chairs.

breathtaking

Ha at night :p

It was a short 'holiday' but it was lots of daddy time and a whole lot of fun.

Ok, I have to confess tho, technically, it wasn't so much a surprise for Michael because he was the one that picked the place and handled the bookings. He was just so good at these stuff, he managed to get further discounts on top of the almost 50% discount on last minute rates. So we got a fantastic deal.

I did want to surprise him with a 'getaway' for the weekend but since he'd already plan this one - just for some 'us' time as we won't be having much weekends together after this, I just threw in "make this your Father's Day treat ya" when he made the booking. Hey, it's the thought that counts right? :p (I tried Squeaky!)

We did get him these tho. We covered them with a blanket and when he got home from work, Ayisha pulled the blanket and went "Surprise"!!!

ps: These canvas pictures are SO cheap!!!! RM30 each printed & framed and that's the biggest size. (again, no surprises there but it's just so ridiculously cheap, I have to share! :p)

Salam, Yan. I love your informative blog posts (on Bali)! My family plans to have a holiday in Bali again, but, we do not want to go to the same places this time around. Reading this gives me insights on our next trip itineraries :).

By the way, may I know the place where you printed the canvas photos? We would love to print ours there (alang-alang ke sana nanti) since the cost is way cheaper than in Malaysia. (Memang excited betul dapat tahu harga yang berbaloi-baloi :D).
